Ana Mirta Luchtan was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She taught since a very early age: she sat her doll-students in the kitchen to tell them stories and then she wrote poetry, of her own, using the door as a blackboard. In 1974 she formally began as a garden master and met firsthand, the power of children’s spontaneous play. She graduated from Psychology and was a Professor of Child Psychology from the University of Buenos Aires. She was a member of the Teacher Training School team and coordinated reading and writing groups in neighborhood libraries. In 2001 she emigrated with her family to the USA (Florida). She works with children and families from the play therapy approach, using writing as a primary resource for conflict elaboration. She likes to write about unique characters, those who do not respond to the “child model”. She is currently part of “Colegas”, a group coordinated by writer Iris Rivera (Argentina) and sand she is a member of a local SCBWI affiliate. Ana Mirta loves to collect little mugs of all kinds from cities and countries that she visits. She dances in an international dance group and likes to invent choreographies. She practices yoga and her little grandchildren already know how to do the tree pose and the downward dog. And, like any good Argentine, she is a fan of dulce de leche.
